Kristin turned 40 with a birthday party that put 80s music and decor together with a travel theme, and old photos of Kristin made it personal.
A photo cube and forty reasons on a pink board
A clear photo cube held old snapshots, one of them a baby picture beside a teddy bear. A pink board titled forty reasons why we love you waited with markers and rows of blank circles. Macarons lined a red London double-decker bus stand.

Cassette tapes and a Kiddie Korner menu
Cassette tape cutouts hung among black streamers, and guests danced in neon 80s outfits. A Growing Up Slowly menu offered KFC Bowls and Buckeye Dip with Graham Crackers beside a Buckeyes Fans Welcome sign. In front of a wall of real cassette tapes, Kristin's Kiddie Korner menu listed Lunchables (for adults!), 1985 Microwave Popcorn and Melody Pops.

A Rubik's Cube contest and a passport by the guestbook
A Solve the Rubik's Cube sign asked guests to write down their name and time to win a bottle of fine wine. The photo guestbook sign read Snap it, Shake it, Stick it, Sign it, and a pink instant camera, a passport and sheets of flag stickers sat beside the book. An old photo was projected on the wall behind the DJ, and red confetti came down over the dance floor.
